ANEZI OKORO, RENOWNED AUTHOR, PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE PASSES ON AT 94 -ANA

Enugu – The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Enugu State Chapter has announced the passing on of Prof Anezi Okoro, a renowned author and professor of medicine.

In a letter addressed to the ANA President, the Chairman, Enugu State chapter, Mazi Zulu Ofoelue, titled “PROFESSOR ANEZI OKORO CROSSES THE GREAT RIVER”, it was stated that the celebrated author and second dermatologist in Africa passed on at the age of 94.

The letter reads in full:

PROFESSOR ANEZI OKORO CROSSES THE GREAT RIVER
The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA),
Enugu Branch has opened the New Year on a sad note having received information that the eminently renowned prolific author, physician, father and Grand Patron of ANA, Enugu branch, and fellow of ANA PROF ANEZI OKORO has crossed the great river of life at the age of 94.

This incidence has been confirmed by his
family during a visit by members of our branch to his home in Enugu.


Anezi Okoro was a renowned Professor of
Medicine and the second Dermatologist in
Africa who and one of Nigeria’s most prolific writers who created stories that have inspired many writers and imparted deeply in Nigerian youths. He was also one of the first African to delve into the genre of Science Fiction.

As a member and Grand Patron of ANA, Enugu Branch, Prof Okoro was a glittering role model, motivator, counsellor, icon, support, leader and father. Even in his old age, he was deeply committed to the growth of ANA Enugu. We will miss him greatly. Burial Arrangements would be announced by the family.
