CONSTITUTIONALLY, LEGISLATURE NOT A FULL TIME JOB -NWANYANWU

Abuja – The Legislature is constitutionally not meant to be a full time job.
Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) made the assertion, this Tuesday morning while speaking as a guest at Kaakaki, AIT’s flagship current affairs program.
According to the seasoned politician and lawyer, ” The Constitution didn’t make the legislature a full time job.
“That’s why it stipulates you must sit for a certain number of days in a year, which implies that you should have something to do with yourself during the rest of the year.
Going further, he bemoamed the huge amount being spent on Federal legislators annually.

“Look at the huge amount being spent on Federal lawmakers annually, its not meant to be so. Every four years, brand new cars are bought for them.
“If you dont have a car, if you don’t have a house in Abuja, don’t come to Abuja (as a Federal legislator).
According to him, Federal legislators should have other means of livelihood, apart from politics to avoid their being ‘career politicians’
On the issue of state police , Nwanyanwu insisted that it was inevitable and that those against it “had something to hide”
