Abuja – The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) has ‘declared three Enyimba FC players wanted’ for their roles in the disruption of last Sunday’s Oriental Derby between their club and Rangers International FC of Enugu.
Both teams were equally fined 10M and N5M, respectively, following the pandemonium that led to the suspension of their match at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday.
Additionally, Rangers have awarded 3 goals and 3 points while Enyimba has equally been ordered to produce the following players for further investigation and sanctions for their roles in disrupting the match. They include; Eze Ekwutoziam (Jersey No. 6), Chibuike Nwaiwu (Jersey No. 27) and Akanni Elijah (Jersey No.10).
This was contained in a letter signed on 10th June, 2024 by Davidson Owunmi, Chief Operating Officer, NPFL
“Enyimba FC has been fined a total of N10 million following the events that occurred at the Oriental Derby over the weekend. This is in addition to the 3 points and 3 goals awarded to Rangers Int’l FC. We await the league body’s verdict regarding Rangers.”
“Rangers Int’l FC has been fined a total of N5 million following the events that occurred at the Oriental Derby over the weekend. The fines stem from over-ticketing and poor crowd control, which led to chaos in #RANENY.”
