POSELF URGES OTTI TO PUBLISH ALLEGED N10B AIRPORT FORENSIC REPORT, ASKS ELDERS TO INTERVENE, END UNHEALTHY MEDIA WAR

The Pro-Obidients South East Leaders Forum (PROSELF) has urged the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti to publish the forensic report of the alleged N10b Abia Airport fraud being levelled against his predecessor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

In a statement issued on 23rd April, 2024 and signed by Comrade Chetachi Ikpe and Chief Marcus Obiakwata, the Forum’s Coordinator and Secretary respectively, POSELF reiterated its belief in transparency and accountability, as pillars of Good Governance accountability and good governance, noting that the publishing of the report would advance same.

“The Pro-Obidient Southeast Leaders Forum stands for transparency and accountability in governance, urging Governor Alex Chioma Otti to substantiate claims surrounding the alleged misappropriation of N10 billion in Abia Airport funds linked to former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. The accountability expected from the Abia State Government will not only uphold integrity but also pave the way for a more cohesive leadership that the Global Obidients Family can take pride in.

Amid mounting speculation concerning the purported mismanagement of funds and other weighty allegations against Ikpeazu, the call for public release of the forensic audit reports has heightened. The absence of concrete evidence and transparency surrounding the investigation is a cause for concern, impacting the integrity of Mr. Peter Obi and the esteemed Global Obidient Family. It is imperative that all stakeholders uphold accountability to maintain public trust and confidence in governance.

The Forum also noted that the prolonged media war between Governor Otti and Ex-Governor Ikpeazu was no longer healthy for the state, as it was becoming a distraction to the provision of Good Governance by Otti’s administration.

“The Forum acknowledges the challenges posed by the prolonged media war against Ikpeazu’s tenure, cautioning against unfounded accusations and emphasizing the need for evidence-based discourse. The exclusion of anti-corruption cases from previous administrations, particularly during the Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Orji era, underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach to addressing governance discrepancies.

“We urge Governor Otti to remain focused on his responsibilities and refrain from engaging in personalized vendettas that distract from the governance agenda. The guidance from Abia Elders, especially figures such as Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, Rtd , Eze Isaac Ikonne (Enyi 1 of Aba), Prof. Ihechukwu Madubuike and Senator Ike Nwachukwu, is paramount in ensuring a swift resolution to the existing media war and fostering unity within the state.

“The purported explanation provided by former Governor Ikpeazu regarding the Abia Airport project sheds light on the decision-making processes during his administration. The importance of providing context and clarity in public discourse to dispel misinformation cannot be overstated. As such, it is crucial to approach governance matters with transparency, integrity, and a commitment to truth.

“In conclusion, the Forum reiterates the call for Governor Otti to release the Abia forensic reports to instill confidence in the public and prevent further discord. Failure to address these concerns may have repercussions for the Obidients Family and Mr. Peter Obi in the future. Let us uphold the values of accountability, honesty, and unity to collectively steer Abia State towards progress and prosperity.

Amid the ongoing speculations surrounding the alleged mismanagement of funds linked to former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the Global Obidients Family demands the immediate public release of the forensic audit reports. This call is essential to dispel doubts, ensure transparency, and uphold integrity in government operations. Furthermore, the Forum highlights the urgent need for the Abia Government to disclose the details of the renowned forensic auditing company tasked with the investigation to address concerns comprehensively.

The Forum expresses concern over the detrimental impact of the anti-Ikpeazu media war on the reputation of respected leaders, including Mr. Peter Obi. The biased nature of the media campaigns and the lack of substantial evidence against corruption allegations tarnish the image of reputable figures and the Global Obidient Family. It is imperative for Governor Alex Chioma Otti to act judiciously and substantiate claims through credible evidence to safeguard integrity and prevent unwarranted discord.

Efforts to probe and discredit former Governor Ikpeazu must not overshadow the current administration’s responsibility of governing effectively and with integrity. The Forum emphasizes the need for Governor Otti to focus on delivering robust governance without succumbing to distractions or unfounded accusations. Unity and collaboration among all stakeholders are crucial for sustainable development and progress in Abia State.

The Forum acknowledges the concerns raised by the Abia community regarding the media war, urging Governor Otti to navigate the challenges wisely. Misinformation and divisive narratives must not detract from the collective goal of advancing the state. As Chief Chikwe Udensi aptly warned, the path to progress must not be clouded with falsehoods but must be built on transparency, truth, and accountability.

In conclusion, the Forum calls upon esteemed Abia Elders, including Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, Rtd, Prof Ihechukwu Madubuike, and Senator Ike Nwachukwu, to intervene and facilitate dialogue to end the protracted Otti-Ikpeazu media war. The Forum also appeals to Mr. Peter Obi to uphold the values of transparency and accountability by ensuring the publication of the Abia forensic reports to preserve the dignity of the Obidients Family and avoid future repercussions.

The Pro-Obidient Southeast Leaders Forum remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering unity, accountability, and progress in Abia State, guided by the principles of honesty, integrity, and respect for all stakeholders.
